Photography is referred to as painting with light. Using light in the right way is what can make a photo look good or bad. That’s where a professional photographer is separated from a non-professional photographer. We paint the right things with the light so that it looks best. That can be a difficult thing to do at times when the light isn’t always ‘controllable’. When that happens we have other tricks up our sleeves.
What we do is bring in the reinforcements, another painter! But this painter does her thing with a different kind of brush… a ‘makeup brush’. Yaismelly (pronounced Jazmelly) is a makeup artist and hair stylist and she is a good one at that! She has some great ideas for makeup and hairstyles so we decided to do a shoot to showcase one of them.
Just a little preparation:
The look that she was going for was to seem lost in nature. I think the makeup and hair came out fantastically! And our model Ashanti did an excellent job as well! Look for some more work from Yaismelly in some future posts!
